World's first clipless ABS panels! The whole interior set for the 1960–1964 Beetle is finally available! Although they are only offered in Black, you may easily paint them to match your upholstery. Look at the photos—they look 🔥🔥🔥! You are going to be able to have a panel that looks original, is completely waterproof, and will essentially last longer than your Bug 💪.

This collection was meticulously created to maintain the original style of the early Bugs. In this set, plastic clips are not used. Rather, a special 3M double-sided tape is used to attach them to the Bug. This new attachment method produces the best looking panels and longest lasting panels on the market!

Will the tape hold, though? To choose the right tape, a lot of testing was done on several customer Bugs. The tape is made to withstand both extreme hot and cold temperatures, and it properly adjusts to the panel's expansion and contraction. It will, therefore, hold! Automobile manufacturers use the same kind of tape to attach body moldings to their vehicles.

The panels are supplied in Black ABS. We added the same original style lines to preserve the OEM look. Also added two machined lines that will easily provide a part line to match that perfect two tone interior color for the front and rear panels. The set also includes new window crank and latch spacers.

Painting the panels is very easy. Keep scrolling down for instructions on how to install them and also paint them! If you have any doubts, feel free to contact us. We'll assist you.

The set comes with the following:

  • Right and Left Front Door Panels
  • Right and Left Rear Panels
  • Right and Left Kick Panels
  • Four (4) 3D printed window crank and latch spacers. These are provided in Ivory White or Black (please select when building your cart).
  • One (1) 3M double side tape.

ABS Panel paint instructions:

  1. Use a Maroon Scotchbrite to scuff the surface of all the panels. Be sure to get in all the machined lines and the sides.
  2. Clean all panels using any of the following options, dish soap and rinse with water, wipe with alchohol or use a prep-clean paint solution. Let the panels dry. (Insert Picture)
  3. Apply a light coat of adhesion promoter for plastics on all panels. This is necessary to assure proper adhesion of the paint to the ABS.
  4. Start painting the whole panel using the lighter color of the two tone first. Using the lighter color will help the darker color achieve coverage. Light coats will help achieve a better finish than heavy wet coats.
  5. Wait until the paint is sufficiently dry to start the two-tone masking. Start by applying tape at the two horizontal lines as show in the picture (insert picture). Use your nail or a sharp spatula to force the tape into the inside corner of the line.
  6. Use a new razor blade to score the masking tape with light pressure using the inside corner as a guide. Remove the masking tape to leave the area that will be painted free.
  7. Mask the lighter color (that was previously painted) with paper or preferred method to avoid getting that area painted as shown below.
  8. Now apply the second color of the two tone to the panel using light coats. Remember to apply paint to the edges!
  9. Wait until the paint is dry to touch and carefully unmask the panels. This is to prevent the paint from peeling.
  10. Your painted panels should look like this:

ABS Panel Installation Instructions

  1. Remove all factory warped old ugly cardboard panels 🤣.
  2. Remove all rubber boots from the doors and rear panels.
  3. The following instructions are for Front Door Install:
    1. Clean the internal door and rear structures to assure a good tape adhesion.
    2. Remove the front right door foam handle and install on the Volkybaru panel. Usually for these years, only the right front uses the handle. If the driver's side door has a handle, drill two holes in the driver's side panel using the passenger side panel as a template/guide and proceed to install the handles.
    3. Now, place the double side tape to the inner door. Cut 2 inch pieces and place them on as shown in the picture. Leave the tape liner on, resist the urge to remove it.
    4. Note, it is important to place long strips of tape (at least 10"-12") in the areas as shown in the video above. This will assure greater adhesion in the door curve.
    5. Present the Volkybaru panel on the door and manually center the door. Use masking tape to mark the position (it will help to have a pair of additional hands).
    6. Remove all tape liners and gently place the panel on the door starting from the top. First look at the upper alignment then side to side. Once it's aligned, start to gently press the panel into the door.
    7. If satisfied with the alignment, press the panel onto the door with a bit more pressure to lock it in. If not, just detach it and re align the panel as shown in the video below.
    8. Place the supplied window crank and door latch spacers and re-install the pins and handles as shown below. NOTE: Do not re-install springs. They are not needed.
    9. Your done with the front doors!
  4. The following instructions are for the rear panel Installation:
    1. Place the tape on the rear panel area. Try to mount directly on clean painted surfaces and avoid the factory fabric to get the best adhesion. If necessary, cut the fabric with a razor blade to expose the sheet metal.
    2. Present the Volkybaru rear panel and manually center the panel
    3. Remove all tape liners and gently place the panel on the door starting from the top. First look at the upper alignment then side to side. Once it's aligned, start to gently press the panel into the door.
    4. If satisfied with the alignment, press the panel onto the door with a bit more pressure to lock it in.
    5. Your done with the rear panels!
  5. Install the rear kick panels. They install the same way as the factory ones.
  6. You have completed the install of the Volkybaru ABS set. Now you won't have to change them again!
